Standing Desk Troubleshooting Guide & Understanding Error Codes

Standing Desk Troubleshooting Guide & Understanding Error Codes

7.9 min read

Is your standing desk showing an error code ? Don't worry, most problems are quick and easy to fix yourself. An error code is just your standing desk's way of telling you what's wrong, and most of them clear up with a simple reset. Below, we explain what each code means in plain English, how to fix it, and when it's time to call us for help.

Can I fix my standing desk myself, or should I contact support?

Start by finding what your desk is doing in one of the two lists below. Some things take a couple of minutes to fix yourself, others are best handled by a professional.

You can usually fix these yourself

  • The desk looks tilted or uneven as it goes up or down.
  • An error code pops up on the remote (it starts with E, or shows H01 or ASR).
  • The screen or buttons aren't reacting when you press them.
  • The desk won't move up or down at all.

Please call the professionals for these, don't try to fix them yourself

  • A clicking sound coming from inside the leg.
  • The desk moves in a rough or jerky way.
  • One leg keeps moving while the other one stops.
  • Any heat or a burning smell from the control box, stop using the desk right away.

What do the Solo & Corner Ryzer error codes mean?

If you have a Solo Ryzer or Corner Ryzer, here's what each code means and the easiest way to fix it.

Code

What it means

How to fix it

E01–E04

Your desk is having trouble getting power, or something inside just needs a restart.

Unplug the control box (the box under your desk), wait 10–20 minutes, then plug it back in and run the reset. Still seeing the code? Give us a call.

E07–E08

Your desk's two legs have lost track of each other, so the desk sits a little uneven.

Run the reset below, it gets both legs back in step.

H01

Your desk has been moving a lot and needs a short break to cool down.

Let it rest for at least 10 minutes, then use it as normal.

ASR

This one isn't a problem! It just shows up while your desk is resetting itself.

Keep following the reset steps below.

Here's the original code chart, too:

What do the Prime Ryzer error codes mean?

The Prime Ryzer shows a few different codes:

Code

What it means

How to fix it

E01 / E02

Your desk just needs a short break to cool down.

Let it rest for about 18 minutes, then try again.

E03 / E04

There's too much weight on the desk frame.

Take some weight off (and remember your tabletop counts too).

E20 / E30

Your desk just needs a quick reset.

Run the reset below — when it's done, the screen shows “bot”.

Have an older Economy or V Ryzer? The same codes and fixes work for your desk too.

How do I reset my standing desk?

Before you start, make sure every cable is plugged in snugly, unplug each one and push it firmly back in. You can also find step-by-step help in our assembly & programming guide.

Solo & Corner Ryzer reset

  1. Hold the down button until the desk goes all the way to the bottom, then let go.
  2. Press and hold the down button again for 7–10 seconds until “ASr” shows on the screen, then let go.
  3. Press and hold the down button one more time, the desk dips down a little, then comes back up. Your height number returns.
  4. Check that the desk is even and moving normally. If it isn't, give us a call.

Prime Ryzer reset

Same steps, the only difference is the screen shows “bot” at the end instead of a height number. Just raise the desk and the number comes back.

What should I do if my desk moves slowly or sinks on its own?

If your desk crawls upward or slowly sinks down by itself, it's usually carrying too much weight. Check your desk's limit below and take a little off and keep in mind the tabletop isn't counted in these numbers.

Model

Weight limit

Solo Ryzer

270 lbs

Corner Ryzer

330 lbs

Prime Ryzer

220 lbs

Mini Ryzer

180 lbs

Older Economy / V Ryzer

155 / 330 lbs

Why is my desk's remote or screen not working?

If some buttons on your remote stop working, unplug the remote from the control box, gently blow any dust off the end, and push it firmly back in. A loose connection is almost always the reason. If it still doesn't respond, get in touch with our team.

FAQ section

What does an E08 error mean on my standing desk?

E08 just means your desk's two legs have lost track of each other, so the desk sits a bit uneven. It's one of the most common codes, and the good news is it usually goes away with a quick reset. Run the reset steps above, and if E08 comes back, reach out for support.

What does an E07 error mean, and how do I fix it?

E07 is basically the same as E08, the two legs have gotten out of sync, so the desk stops sitting level. To fix it, run the reset: lower the desk all the way down, hold the down button until “ASr” appears, then hold it again until your height number comes back.

What do E01 to E04 errors mean?

On the Solo and Corner desks, E01–E04 usually mean a power hiccup, unplug the control box for 10–20 minutes, then run a reset. On the Prime desk, E01 and E02 mean it needs to cool down (rest 18 minutes), and E03 and E04 mean there's too much weight on it (just take some off).

What does the ASR message mean?

ASR isn't an error at all, it's simply your desk letting you know it's resetting. When you press and hold the down button, “ASr” pops up to show the desk is getting ready to fix itself. Keep holding the down button until your height number comes back, and you're all set.

What does H01 mean?

H01 means your desk has been moving a lot and got a little too warm, so it needs a rest. Just let it sit for about 10 minutes, then use it as normal. If you keep seeing H01, it's often a sign the desk is carrying more weight than it should.

What do E20 and E30 mean, and what is “bot”?

On the Prime desk, E20 and E30 mean your desk needs a quick reset. Once you run it, the screen shows “bot”, that just means the desk went all the way down to its lowest point, which is completely normal. Raise the desk like usual and your height number comes right back.

How do I reset a Solo, Corner, or Prime Ryzer?

Lower the desk all the way down and let go of the button. Then press and hold the down button for 7–10 seconds until “ASr” (or “bot” on the Prime) appears. Hold it once more, the desk dips, then rises. When your height number returns, the reset is done.

Why is my standing desk moving slowly or sinking on its own?

Slow movement, especially going up, usually means there's too much weight on the desk. Check your desk's limit, take a little off, and remember the tabletop counts too. If it's still slow or drifts down after you've lightened the load, try a reset or reach out for support.

My remote or screen isn't working, what should I do?

First, unplug the remote from the control box, gently blow any dust off the end, and push it firmly back in. A loose connection is almost always the cause. If the screen or buttons still don't respond after that, get in touch and we'll help sort out a replacement.

Can I replace my desk's control box?

Yes. If your control box keeps acting up, gets very hot, or gives off a burning smell, stop using the desk right away, heat or a burning smell is never something to fix yourself. We stock replacement control boxes and remotes for older desks, so just get in touch and we'll help you find the right one.

Still stuck? We're here to help

Most desk troubles come down to one of three things: a quick reset, a little less weight, or a cable that needs pushing back in. If you've tried the steps above and your desk still isn't cooperating, contact our support team, send us a short video or a few photos and we'll help you get it working again.
